How to get everything you want
A deep dive into the full moon's energy. Plus, the reason you should watch what you say, how to deal with imposter syndrome, and why mindset really is everything.
When a full moon comes, I always feel a little feral: emotions on high, inner turmoil, sleepless nights. I toss and turn, as if electrified by the light.
For the most part, I don’t mind. It’s good to feel a little wild, to be in tune with the sky. It’s good to notice the feeling of being alive.
And anyway, I’m not the only one who feels the power of the moon. “The idea that the lunar cycle can influence people’s behavior dates back thousands of years,” writes Linda Geddes for The BBC. “On nights of the full moon, people go to bed later and sleep less,” a recent study finds.
Of course, the moon affects a lot of things—the change of seasons, our monthly periods, the rise and fall of the ocean tides—so it’s not a giant leap to think it might also affect our vibes.
After all, the moon is strong enough to pull all the water in the ocean, every day, all the time. And if our bodies are mostly water, then like the ocean, the moon must pull us all the time.
This Wednesday evening, the largest and brightest full moon of the year, a rare Super Blue Moon, will light up the sky. If you’ve been experiencing restless energy, emotional intensity, or fitful nights, astrologers say that’s normal: the effects of a full moon usually appear a few days ahead of time. And because this Super Blue Moon is in the watery, empathetic sign of Pisces, it’s also possible you’ve been feeling even more insanely sensitive than usual.
I know I have. After an embarrassing meltdown the other morning over something dumb, the terms once in a blue moon and lunatic come to mind.
But that’s alright. I’ve written before that feeling unearthed can help us move forward—and, since this Super Blue Moon also represents enlightenment, that’s especially possible right now. “This rare lunar event may allow us to see matters clearly and understand our emotions on a deeper level,” astrologer Lisa Stardust says. “Our intuition is heightened, helping us trust our natural instincts and make decisions that can augment our lives.”
To learn more about how we can tap into that intuition, I called one of the most intuitive friends I have: Corbin Chamberlin. As an energy healer, witch, writer, and the founder of wellness brand Sage & Salt, I figured he’d know a thing or two about the moon. And, I was right.
Below, he shares his thoughts on how to work with power of the moon, the importance of speaking positively, the key to dealing with imposter syndrome, and how the right mindset can help you achieve what you want. It’s all stellar advice—the kind that’s sure to change the way you look at everything—no matter what the moon is doing in the sky.
